An end-of-life guide (or death doula) is a non-medical professional who provides emotional, practical, and spiritual support during the end-of-life process. We help individuals and families navigate advance planning, provide comfort and care during terminal illness, support families through the dying process, and assist in creating meaningful legacy projects. Our goal is to offer compassionate guidance, empowering you to make informed decisions and honor your wishes throughout the journey.
-
To begin, we offer a free 30-minute consultation where we can discuss your specific needs and how we can best support you. This initial conversation is a chance to get to know each other and see if we’re a good fit. Whether you have specific goals or just need support in figuring things out, we’re here to help.
-
There are many reasons someone might seek the help of an end-of-life guide:
Planning ahead for your own end-of-life wishes
Supporting a loved one through terminal illness or the dying process
Providing respite for caregivers
Creating a meaningful legacy or end-of-life plan
Navigating difficult conversations around death and dying
Seeking guidance during a time of grief or uncertainty
No matter the reason, our role is to offer compassionate support and practical guidance.
-
Think of us as knowledgeable friends who understand this territory well. We provide emotional, practical, and spiritual support during the dying process. This includes helping with advance planning, explaining what to expect, suggesting comfort measures, supporting families, and assisting with legacy projects.

No, we work alongside your medical team but in a different role. While doctors and nurses focus on medical care, we focus on the emotional, personal, and practical aspects of this journey. We help explain medical processes and support decision-making, but we don't provide hands-on medical care or give medical advice.
-
Absolutely! We often work alongside hospice teams. Think of it this way: hospice provides medical comfort care, while we offer additional emotional and practical support. We're another layer of care for you and your family.
-
We're based in Brooklyn and Manhattan, offering both in-person and virtual support. Not local? Reach out anyway—we may be able to help or connect you with resources in your area.
-
While we don't provide 24/7 bedside care, we understand that needs can arise at any hour. For clients in active end-of-life care, we're available by phone outside regular hours. We'll discuss specific availability during our consultation.
-
Yes! We'll help you think through your wishes and document them clearly. While we can't provide legal advice, we can guide you through creating advance directives and can recommend trusted legal professionals if needed.
-
We start by listening carefully to understand what matters most to you. Then we help you document your wishes clearly and communicate them effectively to your healthcare team and loved ones. We can also help you choose and prepare a healthcare proxy who will advocate for your wishes.

We bring warmth and honesty to this work, believing that even serious conversations can include moments of lightness. We focus on empowering you with information and support, while respecting your unique journey. You'll find no judgment here—just genuine support and practical guidance.
